Taking to Twitter to answer the rumors once and for all, Jon Weisnewski, who serves as senior gameplay director on Destiny 2, confirmed that the pre-order weapon fires arc damage, and not a fourth element type such as frost or ice. The weapon sits in the player’s energy slot and is also great for hitting a single target for big time damage. The longer the beam is held on an enemy, the more precision damage and weapon recoil it does as well....

Of those new Destiny 2 subclasses, fans have seen the Dawnblade Warlock and the Arcstrider Hunter in action, with the Titan’s new subclass, the Sentinel Titan, lying in wait. Now, however, the Sentinel Titan gets its moment to shine, with a full gameplay reveal and new info on its perks and abilities. For those that might not be familiar, the Sentinel Titan is the Void-based subclass that will be replacing the Defender subclass....

Now Bungie has revealed more details about what exactly is included in Destiny 2: New Light and, to the developer’s credit, it is quite extensive. First off, New Light will include all of Year 1’s content including the base game and its campaign, plus the Curse of Osiris and Warmind expansions, and any Year 1 raids. When it comes to Forsaken and Year 2 content (which is when Destiny 2 really turned itself around), New Light players will be able to play the following content for free:...

The biggest selling point of Destiny 2 is the image of a game that keeps on giving. New equipment and quests constantly arrive for the game’s layered combat, both in terms of PVP and PVE. The story continues throughout as well, with quests given to players by in-game NPCs. The result is a science-fiction world that feels like it is really continuing, albeit without end in sight. With so much already in the rear-view mirror, callbacks to the game’s past are often the purview of fans....

Reddit user Little-Miss-Macabre shared their recreation of the Ace of Spades hand cannon online for the world to see. The design they chose is the gun’s base look, foregoing any of the four exotic weapon ornaments available to give the gun a slightly different flair. Little-Miss-Macabre’s only deviation is, as they told one commentator, the choice to use silver paint instead of white to give the weapon a little more pop in the image....

The Witch Queen is the latest expansion to Destiny 2 which will pit guardians against Savathun, the Hive god of cunning, who has mysteriously obtained the Light and all its powers. Players will need to call on a suite of new and returning weapons, along with refreshed abilities, to hunt down the titular Hive queen and take back the Light. However, standing between players and Savathun is her Lucent Brood, Hive imbued with the Light and the abilities it comes with....

Destiny 2 has been struggling with its PVP identity since Stasis hit the Crucible, as Beyond Light changed Destiny 2 with its introduction of Stasis and Sunsetting. Bungie had a plan for certain weapons to age out of rotation and become less effective and less desirable than newer options. With Sunsetting being done away with, Bungie now has to think about rebalancing weapons that would have otherwise faded away....

Just three days ago Bungie community manager DeeJ teased what Destiny 2 players can look forward to from the reveal. After sharing some information about the Season of Opulence, he’d go on to say, “We’ll be looking deeper into the future and sharing with you more about a new era for Bungie and Destiny 2.” The new era for Bungie is already clear, as the company’s partnership with publisher Activision is at its end....

Sure, the power scaling has made some of the baddies on this list less-than-frightening over the years but they’re still completely capable of catching arrogant Guardians off-guard and wiping a fireteam of inexperienced players off the map. Players that encounter the Destiny 2 Beagle error typically are trying to matchmake in one of the game’s many activities (Strikes, Gambit, Crucible, etc.). It will initially seem like they are being disconnected from matchmaking, but instead, the game will deliver a Beagle error code, or in some instances, the game will crash. Truth be told, all players have to do is be patient. The simple “trick” is to load into the strike and stay in the strike’s starting area. At some point, three Pikes will spawn into the area of the strike located on the new planet Nessus, each one being ridden by a Fallen rider. Simply shoot the Fallen off the Pike and take it. There’s no predicting how long the spawn timer is on the Pikes....

Unfortunately, it turns out that any hope for Trials of the Nine going on hiatus is unrealistic. According to Bungie Community Manager dmg04, Trials must stay active for Destiny 2 since it is tied to Trophies/Achievements. For those that might not be familiar, Destiny 2 features a Trophy or Achievement for meeting the Emissary, the Trials of the Nine vendor. An introduction is not too hard to achieve, though, only requiring one win....

The race itself was a struggle for many Destiny 2 players, as the new Contest Mode not only made the standard Vault of Glass raid more challenging, but it was just a pathway to unlocking the Challenge Mode, which players had to complete in order to attain the title of world first. Challenge Mode added extra obstacles to the raid, including new challenges to the final boss, Atheon, who ended up giving Elysium and other clans some difficulty....

And that has to do with Destiny 2’s narrative, which in many ways has struggled to please fans as it has continued to stretch out events and not completely deliver satisfying payoffs for its setups. But the main focus here is about how Destiny 2 has continued to treat its characters, its lore, and its history. For longtime players, there appears to be a lot to look forward to outside of the latest narrative arc in Season 15. Not only are weapons getting another round of balancing, but one of the bigger additions will be the arrival of Crossplay. Following the weekend test in Season 14, Bungie is finally implementing this feature which will allow players across all platforms to finally play together. The changes don’t stop there as Bungie just announced numerous changes coming to various subclasses in Season 15 as well....

This morning’s Destiny 2 downtime should only impact server availability for about six hours. During that time, the developers will roll out update 1.0.3. The following timeline, provided by Bungie, breaks down when players can expect to get booted this morning… If the maintenance goes according to plan, hopefully most players will either be at work or school during the downtime and won’t lose out on precious game time. So far Bungie has done a pretty impressive job at maintaining server stability for Destiny 2, so players have had limited interuptions during these first few weeks of game time....

One gun, in particular, has unfortunately been left in a state that pulls it out of Destiny 2’s meta for a few months now, and that would be the exotic scout rifle, Polaris Lance. This exotic weapon comes from way back in the Warmind expansion and came with the perk “Perfect Fifth” which both returns precision hits to the player’s magazine, but also gives the fifth shot a delayed solar burst for landing four precision shots in a row....
