Although Bungie didn’t go into explicit detail regarding the specifics of the new multiplayer mode, Countdown will essentially have Guardians placing a bomb in their opponents’ bases to then guard it. If the description for the fresh Destiny 2 mode is any indication, this ought to work somewhat like a multiplayer game type that has players commandeering control points on a map so as to successfully hold sway over the whole environment....
But as previously revealed on the roadmap for the Destiny 2: Shadowkeep expansion and accompanying Season of the Undying, the dungeon (the name of which has yet to be revealed) will release on October 29. Images started appearing online earlier this week of these boxes which came with Koss Porta Pro headphones, an ultraviolet flashlight, light-up display with the Destiny tricorn logo, as well as a cassette tape and player. There was also a mysterious card included that revealed a cryptic message when used in combination with the UV flashlight....
Aside from the main factions, there were few sub-factions bound to specific vendors and activities. Guardians had to rank up the reputation of each house, which further earned them a chance to get unique gear, alongside additional purchasable options on the respective vendor. It has been almost three years since Destiny 2 saw the last warfare between factions. After Bungie’s exit from Activision, it was made clear that the game won’t be seeing any more in-game activities surrounding the three main houses....

From Friday, June 29 to Sunday, July 1, Destiny 2 will be completely free to play. At the very least, this covers the story content and gear included in the base game and competitive multiplayer. Those that decide they want to continue past the free weekend will have the option of buying the game and expansion pass for a moderate discount, and their character progress will transfer over to the paid version of the game....
But one very special exotic weapon may soon be available in the game, according to an item that showed up in one Destiny 2 players’ inventory. The player explains that while they were patrolling the European Dead Zone (EDZ), a quest step called “Await The World-Eater” showed up in one of their Power weapon slots. The card explained that “something is coming” and that the player should “look for the arrival of the ‘World Eater’”....
Ongoing is this year’s GuardianCon convention, an event built around Destiny livestreamers, their communities, and raising money for charity. Bungie’s usually a presence at the convention, though it’s not an official Destiny or Bungie convention. This year’s no different, with Bungie attending and deciding to share a bit of previously unreleased footage. The video, a clip from Bungie’s livestream, shows some of the Moon environments that Destiny 2 players will see in Shadowkeep....
In addition to the mysterious Guardian Games event later this month, which seems to feature some very interesting class-based rewards, dataminers may have also stumbled upon a few other bits of data that Bungie has been working to keep under wraps. Later this season could possible reintroduce a major component not seen since the Rise of Iron campaign in Destiny 1 along with the return of a formidable exotic weapon that ties into this season’s themes....
In the meantime, Bungie has slowly been pulling the curtain back on the upcoming season and what fans can expect. While the story remains under wraps, this week’s blog post detailed plenty of Destiny 2 sandbox changes including updates to weapon types and exotics. In fact, many exotic weapons have been given anti-champion intrinsic traits to help diversify the options players have when tackling tougher missions. Le Monarque, Thunderlord, Malfeasance, and more will be newly available options when facing off against champion enemies....
Even as fans continue to wait for Season 19 story details, Bungie did announce a surprise collaboration with Ubisoft. The two companies are releasing new cosmetic gear for both Destiny 2 and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, with the later getting armor based on Lord Shaxx and Saint-14 as well as skins for a mount and Eivor’s Raven. For Destiny 2, each class is getting armor inspired by the Assassin’s Creed series, futuristic versions of Altair, Eivor, and Kassandra as well as a sparrow and ghost skin....
In addition to donating vast amounts of Fractaline, players can venture back into the Sundial to face off against Inotam, a boss character that adds an interesting final fight to the seasonal mode. Unlike the last season’s final fight, Inotam has a new arena and moveset based on the three previous flayers. It certainly adds a unique and interesting twist to the experience and so far, the community seems pretty happy with the result....
Outside of the very specific weapon class changes, Bungie has also sought to balance more than a couple weapons which currently may be viewed as overpowered for better or worse. The biggest offender is arguably The Mountaintop, a weapon that is fairly divisive among the Destiny 2 community. Not only is the plash damage getting a 33% reduction, its projectiles are slower and it’s going to be much less accurate in the air....
Don’t fret pre-orderers, Bungie’s looking out for you too. While Bungie’s said that the Destiny 2 beta will be available to non-pre-ordering customers, they’ve also announced exclusive Early Beta Access for pre-orderers. Participating retailers will provide an Early Beta Access code as they’re available to pre-orderers, which can then be redeemed on Bungie.net via a Bungie account. Later, players will notified via email that their download code is ready....
How to Get and Use the Starfarer 7M Exotic Ship Destiny 2’s Starfarer 7M Exotic ship is not a new item, meaning that players who got it during The Dawning of last year can go ahead and use it immediately. For those who did get the ship but eventually dismantled it, the Starfarer 7M can still be pulled out of the players’ Collection tab within the appropriate section. Breakthrough garnered generally positive reactions from players when it first debuted, but once it was added to Destiny 2’s Competitive playlist, players began to complain about the mode, saying it shouldn’t be in the Competitive playlist. However, that does not appear to be the reason Breakthrough was removed from the game. While Bungie did not specify the exact reason, many players are reporting that they were able to abuse the mode, making it last indefinitely....
Over on Reddit, user Wolvhammer and a buddy were tackling the new Up and Up adventure in the Curse of Osiris expansion for Destiny 2. At one point in the mission, they came across a huge Vex door, with a visible hole in it. Curious, Wolvhammer took out a sniper rifle and peered in, only to discover a body floating in the center of the room with purple ribbons gently floating off its body....
