Naturally, weapons and gear are just one aspect of creating a great build, and with Season of Plunder, players have access to a ton of new seasonal perks. Many of these are Arc related and some players have seemingly discovered how powerful some of them can be including Voltshot, which was previously flying a bit under the radar. The mod essentially gives players the ability to use the Jolted debuff to release chain lightning even when not using an Arc subclass.

For now, it’s time to take a look at the exotic weekend merchant Xur who arrives once more into Destiny 2 for the next few days. Follow this guide for his most current weekend location, news on his exotic cipher quest, as well as a review of all the exotic and legendary gear he’s brought for the weekend of September 9, 2022.

Where is Xur?

For the next few days, Destiny 2 players can find Xur in the Tower.

After loading into The Tower, head to the left down into the Hangar. Down the stairs, take another left and go beyond where the Dead Orbit faction used to be. Xur can be found on the metal platform overlooking the mountains.

Class Armor and Exotic Cipher

Xur’s role continues to offer the usual weekly quests, exotics, and legendary gear. Not only are these quests required to purchase a second fated engram, but they’re necessary to acquire legacy exotic gear from the Tower kiosk. Players can earn a new cipher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clan mates or finishing more challenging activities.

Xur continues to sell even more gear outside his usual content. In addition to his normal exotic gear, Xur now has Legendary Weapons and Armor for sale in exchange for Legendary Shards and Glimmer.

Exotic Armor

Skull of Dire Ahamkara - Warlock helmet

After some time off, the once powerful Skull of Dire Ahamkara has returned. After proving to be a top tier choice for quite a while, Bungie felt the item was too strong and delivered a nerf that has made this helm a shadow of what it once was. Its armor perk is Actual Grandeur which not only provides additional damage resistance when casting Nova Bomb, but kills grant super energy.

Naturally, this is a Voidwalker specific armor piece, but due to recent nerfs it’s hard to recommend over some other choices that Warlocks have access to. Like the Titan exotic, the stat roll this week isn’t great, so it’s possible players already have a much better version.

Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:

Mobility +9 Resilience +13 Recovery +10 Discipline +2 Intellect +10 Strength +17

Gwisin Vest - Hunter chest armor

Nine months later, the Spectral Blades specific exotic Gwisin Vest is back. With the perk Roving Assassin, each spectral blade kill lets the player vanish and gain more super energy when the super is active, making it last longer than normal.

Considering the benefits of this exotic gear, it is a solid choice for Nightstalker Spectral Blade hunters, so it’s worth owning. The roll is also the highest this week at a 63 total with a higher than normal Resilience and Recovery with an overall fairly balanced stat distribution, besides Mobility.

Solar Enhanced. Stat Values:

Mobility +4 Resilience +17 Recovery +12 Discipline +9 Intellect +13 Strength +8

An Insurmountable Skullfort - Titan chest armor

Almost half a year later and An Insurmountable Skullfort is back again. As usual, it’s a perfect compliment to players who favor close quarters. Transfusion Matrix is its intrinsic perk which triggers health regeneration and restores melee energy after getting a kill with an arc melee ability.

This is a solid choice, especially with the recent Arc 3.0 update in both PvE and PvP for Earthshaker or Missile Striker Titans. Where this item falters a bit is with this week’s random stat roll, coming in at a disappointing 61 overall. However, the Resilience is extremely high at 20, so it may be worth a look for some players looking to replace a collection roll.

Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:

Mobility +6 Resilience +20 Recovery +7 Discipline +9 Intellect +8 Strength +11

Exotic Weapon

For those who enjoy shooting strange objects out of weapons, like the Witch Queen’s Parasite exotic grenade launcher, then they’ll want to check out The Colony. Insectoid Robot Grenades is its intrinsic perk which causes the weapon to fire grenades that are actually spider robots. Once fired, these devices chase enemy targets (even up/around walls) and explode at close range. As if that isn’t enough, when holstered, the gun refills its magazine as well.

For now, this weapon remains a top pick for PvP players thanks to its homing rounds. Even with machine guns getting a boost this season, The Colony remains an easy recommendation for those who don’t yet have it. Being able to track targets in the Crucible is also incredibly valuable.

Additional perks:

Linear Compensator High Velocity Rounds Composite Stock

Hawkmoon and Dead Man’s Tale Rolls

Since Season 16 removed the Presage and Harbinger exotic missions, Xur is also selling both Hawkmoon and Dead Man’s Tale with randomized rolls. Players should visit him each weekend as he’ll be carrying different rolls.

Hawkmoon Rolls:

Hammer-Forged Rifling Alloy Magazine Eye of the Storm Combat Grip

Dead Man’s Tale

Arrowhead Break High-Calibur Rounds Outlaw Short-Action Stock
