To ensure that everyone is on the same page when Shadowkeep finally arrives, Bungie updated Destiny 2 earlier this week to give all Forsaken expansion owners the Annual Pass for free. This gives them access to the Black Armory Forges, Gambit Prime class armor and Reckoning, as well as the Menagerie and Season of Opulence content. Previously locked exotics like Outbreak Perfected and Lumina are now available for everyone, giving players an almost overwhelming amount of things to do in the next week and a half.

Even with an influx of new content, the one element that never changes from week to week is the arrival of the exotic merchant Xur. As usual, the oddball merchant in Destiny 2 is back once again with a whole new inventory of exotic gear for sale over the next few days. Here’s where players can find Xur as well as a review of what he’s currently selling for the weekend of September 20, 2019.

Where is Xur?

Players can find Xur back inside of the European Dead Zone this weekend.

Fast travel to the Winding Cove zone and immediately head towards the back where the Fallen typically patrol. Climb the cliffs back here to find Xur standing on a ledge not too far from a crashed ship.

Class Armor

Its understandable for players to be extra cautious with their resources, seeing as how Destiny 2: Shadowkeep and its many changes are right around the corner. Thankfully, Xur has some pretty solid options on sale this week that may cause players to think twice. Of course, the Fated Engram is still available to provide something else including a chance to unlock an exotic from the Forsaken expansion.

Here are Xur’s three gear pieces for this weekend:

Karnstein Armlets - Warlock gauntlets

Taking a break from what seems like constant rolls of Chromatic Fire every other week, Xur has decided to instead bring the Karnstein Armlets. These are a strong Warlock exotic item, that gives the player added survivability thanks to its exotic perk. Upon a melee kill, Vampire’s Caress restores a large portion of health while also continuing to restore health for a short duration afterward.

This is an item that all Warlocks should have as it’s a very strong item in PvE situations and activities like Gambit, Escalation Protocol, or Blind Well where there are large groups of enemies to overcome. The roll on this item is also pretty good especially when paired with Xur’s weapon this week. This an easy item to recommend this week for those who don’t already have it.

Random Gear Rolls:

Resilience OR Mobility Auto Rifle Loader, Light Arms Loader, Enhanced Grenade Launcher Loader Fusion Rifle Scavenger OR Special Ammo Finder

Orpheus Rigs - Hunter leg armor

Nightstalker Hunters should be thrilled to see the Orpheus Rigs are back on sale this weekend. Uncanny Arrows enhances the Shadowshot super ability by giving players ability energy for each enemy tethered by Deadfall anchors. For those using Moebius Quiver, they can take more shots than usual.

Evne though many supers including Shadowshot are receiving big changes in Shadowkeep, the Orpheus Rigs are easily one of the best exotic gear pieces for Hunters. They’re extremely useful for Shadowshot players and great at crowd control like the bridge sections of Reckoning. What makes these even better is that the roll this week is extremely good with Traction and Special Ammo Finder. This is a very easy purchase for Hunters.

Random Gear Rolls:

Resilience OR Mobility Pulse Rifle Dexterity, Kinetic Dexterity, Traction Submachine Gun Scavenger OR Special Ammo Finder

Ashen Wake - Titan gauntlets

One month later, the Ashen Wake gauntlets are back for Sunbreaker Titans. Bring the Heat makes all thrown fusion grenades explode on impact and gives the Titan increased throw speed. The community has affectionately referred to these exotic gauntlets as being able to throw fireballs at enemies.

As fun as that sounds, these are at best a situational exotic where each player’s mileage will vary. It’s a great exotic for taking down major enemies quickly and is capable of taking a players health down enough to be one shot in PvP. The roll this week for the item is also pretty good, so for fans of fusion grenades, this is easy to recommend. For everyone else, hold on the legendary shards and skip them.

Random Gear Rolls:

Resilience OR Restorative Auto Rifle Loader, Pulse Rifle Loader, Impact Induction Rocket Launcher Scavenger OR Special Ammo Finder

Exotic Weapon

Beware homing grenades this weekend in the Crucible because The Colony is back on sale. Insectoid Robot Grenades is its intrinsic perk which causes the weapon to fire grenades that are actually spider robots. Once fired, these devices chase enemy targets (even up/around walls) and explode at close range. As if that isn’t enough, when holstered, the gun refills its magazine as well.

Grenade launchers are still very popular and look to remain a strong option even after the secret Shadowkeep nerf they’re receiving. The Colony is a strong option and makes encounters a bit easier thanks to its ability to find a target even when not aiming. While it’s likely a weapon that most players have at this point, The Colony is an easy recommendation for those who don’t.

The perks for this weapon this weekend are:

High-Velocity Rounds Linear Compensator Composite Stock

Here’s the complete rundown of Xur’s entire stock in Destiny 2 for September 20:

Karnstein Armlets (Warlock gauntlets) – 23 Legendary Shards Orpheus Rigs (Hunter boots) – 23 Legendary Shards Ashen Wake (Titan gauntlets) – 23 Legendary Shards The Colony (Grenade Launcher) - 29 Legendary Shards Fated Engram - 97 Legendary Shards Five of Swords Challenge Card

Destiny 2 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Stadia version also in development.

These changes also extend to many exotic weapons that have long since fallen by the wayside. For example, the Sunshot hand cannon in Destiny 2 is getting boosted with a 12 round magazine. Sweet Business is also getting a lot of love and arguably the biggest boost of the bunch. Specifically, the minigun style auto rifle has a new magazine size of 150, 15% more damage in PvE, Armor Piercing rounds, increased damage base, and players no longer need to keep the weapon firing when picking up ammo to have it automatically reload.

Bungie has promised a full set of patch notes soon, but until then, the exotic merchant Xur is back for another weekend in Destiny 2. As expected, he’s brought a whole new inventory of exotic gear with him for a limited time only. Here’s where players can find Xur, and what exotic gear is in his inventory, for the weekend of September 13, 2019.

Where is Xur?

This weekend, Xur is hiding out on Titan in his usual building at The Rig.

Once loaded into The Rig, start heading to the other side of the zone — towards the ramp that leads to the Solarium. Before reaching that ramp, Xur can be found inside one of the nearby houses, typically on the left side if the player is facing the Solarium ramp.

Class Armor

It’s all chest armor this week, and that means players’ enthusiasm may vary. While there are some much better options than others, players also still have access to the Fated Engram if they’re looking for something else, which will give them a chance to unlock an exotic from the Forsaken expansion.

Here are Xur’s three gear pieces for this weekend:

Chromatic Fire - Warlock chest armor

This Forsaken exotic seems to be on sale every few weeks, which makes it likely that most Warlock players already have this item. Although players just saw this item two weeks ago, it remains a strong PvE option, thanks to its intrinsic perk. For those who somehow don’t have it yet, it’s worth getting for situations where players are up against lots of enemies, like the recently adjusted Reckoning.

Its perk, Crystalline Transistor, causes an explosion, in the element of the player’s equipped subclass, after a kinetic precision kill. Having lots of enemies in a tight spot really maximizes the elemental damage. For PvP players, other guardians have mentioned that this armor is good when using particular weapons like Ace of Spades or Blast Furnace.

Random Gear Rolls:

Mobility OR Restorative Unflinching Bow Aim, Unflinching Submachine Gun Aim, Unflinching Sniper Rifle Aim Bow Reserves OR Submachine Gun Reserves

The Dragon’s Shadow - Hunter chest armor

It’s been a very long time since Xur has had this unique looking exotic armor on sale for Hunters. The armor is a sub-class neutral exotic that is reliant on the Hunter’s dodge mechanic, as its intrinsic perk, Wraithmetal Mail, reloads all weapons and increases movement and weapon handling for a brief time after performing a dodge.

While this is a completely solid and useful exotic, The Dragon’s Shadow remains unremarkable. It can be argued that there are certainly better options out there for Hunters to choose, like the Shards of Galanor, Dragon’s Shadow has some value thanks to the fact that it basically gives players Marksman’s Dodge for free. This essentially lets the user equip the Gambler’s Dodge class ability and gain free weapon reloads and faster melee recharges at the same time.

Random Gear Rolls:

Resilience OR Restorative Unflinching Auto Rifle Aim, Unflinching Energy Aim, Unflinching Machine Gun Aim Bow Reserves OR Hand Cannon Reserves

Hallowfire Heart - Titan chest armor

The Hallowfire Heart is a strong subclass specific item specifically designed for Sunbreaker Titans. Sunfire Furnace, the item’s exotic perk, improves the recharge rate of all solar abilities. Additionally, it greatly improves ability recharge rates while the player’s super meter is fully charged. This distinction is important for Titans who use a powerful ability like melting point, which can give teams an edge in a mode like Gambit.

Even though this isn’t a newer item, it still holds up very well. It’s worth picking up for those who don’t have it.

Random Gear Rolls:

Resilience OR Restorative Unflinching Fusion Rifle Aim, Enhanced Unflinching Bow Aim, Enhanced Unflinching Linear Fusion Rifle Aim Auto Rifle Reserves OR Scout Rifle Reserves

Exotic Weapon

The original Destiny 2 pre-order bonus is back on sale this week. The Coldheart trace rifle is one third of the elemental trace rifles, along with Wavesplitter and Prometheus Lens. Its intrinsic perk, Cold Fusion, allows the gun to fire a beam of cold fusion energy. When combined with its other perk, called Longest Winter, the beam does increased damage the longer it remains on a target.

Trace rifles remain in the middle of the pack, meaning this weapon isn’t the strongest one out there. Even still, it’s fun to use, and it retains plenty of value on both sides of the game. It’s capable of eating through boss characters, and while it may not replace some of the better heavy weapons out there in PvP, there are worse options than this energy trace rifle. For those that don’t have it, Coldheart is worth the shards this week.

The perks for this weapon this weekend are:

Enhanced Battery Extended Barrel Hand-Laid Stock

Here’s the complete rundown of Xur’s entire stock in Destiny 2 for September 13:

Chromatic Fire (Warlock chest armor) – 23 Legendary Shards The Dragon’s Shadow (Hunter chest armor) – 23 Legendary Shards Hallowfire Heart (Titan chest armor) – 23 Legendary Shards Coldheart (Energy Trace Rifle) - 29 Legendary Shards Fated Engram - 97 Legendary Shards Five of Swords Challenge Card

Destiny 2 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Stadia version also in development.
