Things really came to a head this past reset where a new seasonal challenge challenged players to level three seasonal shaped weapons to level 10. While the wording is a bit vague on what constitutes a seasonal weapon, the larger issue the community has is how grind heavy the activity has become just to finish some of these challenges. Thankfully, Bungie Community Manager Dylan Gafner acknowledged many of the crafting pain points, promising to pass along the rounded up feedback which many hope can be implemented sooner than later.

Until then, it’s now time to talk Xur as the weekend merchant Xur has arrived again Destiny 2 over the next few days. Follow this guide for his most current weekend location, news on his exotic cipher quest, as well as a review of all the exotic and legendary gear he’s brought for the weekend of October 7, 2022.

Where is Xur?

This weekend, Destiny 2 players can find Xur back inside the Tower hangar.

Fast travel to the Winding Cove zone and immediately head towards the back where the Fallen typically patrol. Climb the cliffs back here to find Xur standing on a ledge not too far from a crashed ship.

Class Armor and Exotic Cipher

Xur’s role continues to offer the usual weekly quests, exotics, and legendary gear. Not only are these quests required to purchase a second fated engram, but they’re necessary to acquire legacy exotic gear from the Tower kiosk. Players can earn a new cipher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clan mates or finishing more challenging activities.

Xur continues to sell even more gear outside his usual content. In addition to his normal exotic gear, Xur now has Legendary Weapons and Armor for sale in exchange for Legendary Shards and Glimmer.

Exotic Armor

Contraverse Hold - Warlock gauntlet

Traditionally a very strong PvP exotic, these pair really well with a Voidwalker’s grenade abilities. Chaos Exchanger is the unique perk and it provides damage resistance while charging a void grenade with Chaos Accelerant, Feed the Void, or Handheld Supernova. In addition, after using throwing it and landing a hit, a portion of grenade energy is returned.

These were previously adjusted inside of the Season of the Worthy seasonal update. While they still function the same as they did previously, players now have reduced damage protection while holding the supernova and how long it can be held for. Technically the lowest stat roll this week, it’s still a solid 63 with highs for Resilience, Discipline, and Intellect.

Void Enhanced. Stat Values:

Mobility +6 Resilience +19 Recovery +8 Discipline +16 Intellect +12 Strength +2

Wormhusk Crown - Hunter helmet

This exotic Hunter gear used to be an easy go-to option, especially since it was handed out to players who finished the Warmind expansion campaign. Burning Souls gives a small health and shield bump to players after they dodge.

Unfortunately, the perk was deemed too powerful by Bungie, and the developer proceeded to nerf the item to modify its ability to essentially save a Hunter from death simply by dodging. While it’s nowhere near the power levels it was prior to the nerf, It’s still a solid option for Hunters inside the Crucible for the health boost and shield bump. At a 64 total roll, it’s a solid pickup this week.

Void Enhanced. Stat Values:

Mobility +14 Resilience +16 Recovery +3 Discipline +2 Intellect +15 Strength +14

ACD/0 Feedback Fence - Titan gauntlet

The intrinsic perk called Fury Conductors build energy when getting melee kills. Being hit by a melee attack not only reduces incoming damage and unleashes the currently stored energy in an explosion.

It may not be the best available Titan exotic, it certainly has its moments in specific activities like the Crucible. Getting punched and causing small explosions is a powerful, fun, and destructive ability to have. Titans are the big winners this week with a high of 65 and above average Recovery and Intelligence. Not the best roll, but a solid one for those interested.

Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:

Mobility +7 Resilience +8 Recovery +18 Discipline 7 Intellect +16 Strength +9

Exotic Weapon

Just on sale only a few weeks ago, the Forsaken expansion exotic weapon is back in stock. The Two-Tailed fox is a rocket launcher that fires two elemental rockets, one void and one solar. Better yet, these rockets can track the same target. The void rocket also suppresses the target while the solar one does damage over time.

While this is a fun weapon to use, this particular exotic is outclassed by other weapons including its sibling, the Gjallarhorn. Still, it has its uses in certain game modes, but isn’t a required purchase this week.

Additional perks:

Confined Launch High Velocity Rounds Composite Stock

Hawkmoon and Dead Man’s Tale Rolls

Since Season 16 removed the Presage and Harbinger exotic missions, Xur is also selling both Hawkmoon and Dead Man’s Tale with randomized rolls. Players should visit him each weekend as he’ll be carrying different rolls.

Hawkmoon Rolls:

Hammer-Forged Rifling Alloy Magazine Opening Shot Smooth Grip

Dead Man’s Tale

Extended Barrel Armor-Piercing Rounds Fourth Time’s the Charm Fitted Stock
