Kicking off next week, Festival of the Lost will be bringing that spooky vibe back to the Tower. Naturally, players will be collecting candy while participating in specialized events and what many believe will be the return of weapons like Horror Story, Braytech Werewolf, and last year’s pulse rifle called Jurassic Green. However, for many players, the real draw this year is the community voted armor ornaments styled after anime mechs like Voltron, Gundam, and others.

For now, it’s time to set our sights on the weekend merchant Xur who has arrived again in Destiny 2 for a limited time. Follow this guide for his most current weekend location, news on his exotic cipher quest, as well as a review of all the exotic and legendary gear he’s brought for the weekend of October 14, 2022.

Where is Xur?

This weekend, players can find Xur on Nessus, hanging out on his usual massive tree branch.

From the Director, head to Nessus and load into Watcher’s Grave. Run towards the back of the zone where a massive tree is found. Jump up until players find the huge branch where the merchant is hanging out.

Class Armor and Exotic Cipher

Xur’s role continues to offer the usual weekly quests, exotics, and legendary gear. Not only are these quests required to purchase a second fated engram, but they’re necessary to acquire legacy exotic gear from the Tower kiosk. Players can earn a new cipher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clan mates or finishing more challenging activities.

Xur continues to sell even more gear outside his usual content. In addition to his normal exotic gear, Xur now has Legendary Weapons and Armor for sale in exchange for Legendary Shards and Glimmer.

Exotic Armor

Crown of Tempests - Warlock helmet

For Warlocks that like to get their Emperor Palpatine on, the Crown of Tempests remains one of the best exotics for Stormtrance. It remains a top option thanks to the exotic perk Conduction Tines. With this item, any arc ability kills increases the recharge rate of Arc abilities and extends the duration of Stormtrance.

This is an item that all Warlocks should have as it’s one of the best exotics to use with the Stormtrance super as it can quickly regenerate abilities for Warlocks, especially with the recent changes as part of the arc 3.0 subclass rework.

Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:

Mobility +14 Resilience +2 Recovery +17 Discipline +2 Intellect +14 Strength +13

Liar’s Handshake - Hunter gauntlets

With the arrival of Arc 3.0, Liar’s Handshake has seen another uptick in usage which had fallen off after Bungie patched a major damage boosting bug. Cross Counter gives players the chance to follow up with an extremely powerful counterpunch that also heals after using an arc melee ability or being hit by a melee strike.

In fact, players have been creating new character builds around Liar’s Handshake, as the exotic can still dole out big damage when used correctly. In terms of synergizing with the exotic item, the roll this week is pretty good as Strength, which influences the melee ability, is the highest stat value.

Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:

Mobility +14 Resilience +8 Recovery +9 Discipline +6 Intellect +2 Strength +23

Lion Rampant - Titan leg armor

Titans who need a bit of mobility and stability when making tricky jumps will want these rocket boots. Similar to the St0mp-EEZ for Hunters, Lion Rampant’s come with the perk Jump Jets which provides added maneuverability in the air and enables accurate hip-fire while players are in the air during Lift. Basically, these boosts will help make Lift Titans jump for twice as long.

Naturally, these boots are great for more platforming based activities typically involved in Dungeons or Raids. Outside of that, a player’s mileage will vary as they don’t offer a significant boost to combat boost like other Titan exotics. Not only the highest roll of the week at 65, but the overall spread of the stats is pretty solid. Discipline is the highest, but the other 5 categories are all pretty even, so it’s perfect pick up this week for those looking for a solid roll.

Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:

Mobility +10 Resilience +12 Recovery +11 Discipline +15 Intellect +10 Strength +7

Exotic Weapon

At one point in time, Hard Light was largely regarded as the strongest weapon in Destiny 2, including competitive events like the Crucible. It was favored by most players for its rapid fire, high damage, and near zero recoil. As these things tend to go, the nerf hammer finally fell on Hard Light, reducing its effectiveness. These days, the weapon is largely outclassed by other auto rifles in the game, but changing elemental damage is helpful at times, so the gun remains serviceable.

Hard Light basically shoots lasers thanks to its Intrinsic perk, Volatile Light. Rounds fired from the weapon have reduced damage falloff, over penetrate targets, and ricochet of hard surfaces. The more they ricochet, the more damage they inflict. It may not be the beast it once was, but it is still more than serviceable and is a decent pickup this week thanks to being able to swap elements on the fly.

Hawkmoon and Dead Man’s Tale Rolls

Since Season 16 removed the Presage and Harbinger exotic missions, Xur is also selling both Hawkmoon and Dead Man’s Tale with randomized rolls. Players should visit him each weekend as he’ll be carrying different rolls.
