Earlier this week, Bungie revealed plans for the next phase of the Menagerie which is set to kick off next week. While the the Heroic version starts at 750 power and scales up, it also disables matchmaking so players who are interested need to get in fireteams before jumping in. While the mode will kick players back to orbit for falling in battle thanks to the extinguish modifier, the risk is worth the reward as Bungie is adding new triumphs and rewards for those brave enough to enter.
Even with the promise of greater rewards on the horizon, fans can satisfy their loot fix right now as Destiny 2’s exotic merchant Xur has returned for the weekend. Here’s where players can find the elusive merchant and find out what exotic gear is in his inventory for the weekend of June 21, 2019.
Where is Xur?
After two weeks of riding the lavish golden barge on Nessus, Xur has returned to the European Dead Zone.
Fast travel to the Winding Cove zone and immediately head towards the back where the Fallen typically patrol. Climb the cliffs back here to find Xur standing on a ledge not too far from a crashed ship.
Class Armor
The class armor this week is incredibly strong thanks to the fact that all three items are from Forsaken. Considering how popular these items are, it’s possible many players already have them, which means it may be time to purchase the Fated Engram as it features a great chance unlock an exotic from the Forsaken expansion.
Here are all three gear pieces for this weekend:
Phoenix Protocol - Warlock chest armor
Prior to the Season of Opulence, this exotic Warlock armor was viewed as one of the best thanks to its intrinsic perk. Battle-Hearth give Dawnblade Warlocks a return on super energy for any kills or assists they make while standing inside of the Well of Radiance.
Even though Phoenix Protocol was included in the recent exotic gear nerf, the overall feeling from players is that it’s still very viable. The super return now caps just below a full meter instead of instantly returning it back prior to the recent nerf. As such, this is still a very easy exotic gear piece to recommend for players who don’t yet have it.
Random Gear Rolls:
Restorative OR Mobility Unflinching Pulse Rifle Aim, Unflinching Shotgun Aim, Unflinching Rifle Aim Pulse Rifle Reserves OR Sidearm Reserves
Oathkeeper - Hunter helmet
While not as unique or exciting as the Warlock or Titan options this week, the Oathkeeper gauntlets for Hunters are the perfect compliment to those who enjoy using bows. Adamantine Brace is the intrinsic perk which allows bow charges to be held indefinitely.
As such, it’s hard to recommend this gear outside of those who use bows or perhaps for those looking to fill out their collection. Obviously, this is a very situational exotic and there are much better options out there that offer more utility. On the other hand, these may come in handy for those attempting to complete the Gambit Pinnacle Weapon quest this season.
Random Gear Rolls:
Mobility OR Resilience Pulse Rifle Loader, Momentum Transfer, Power Weapon Loader Sword Scavenger OR Special Ammo Finder
Ursa Furiosa - Titan gauntlets
This Forsaken exotic was also included in the Season of Opulence exotic nerf to reduce the amount of super energy returned to the user. Ursine Guard, the intrinsic perk, enables the player to move faster when guarding with Sentinel Shield. However, the best part of this perk is that blocked damage will convert into additional super energy once the super ends, similar to other class exotics like the Shards of Galanor for Hunters.
Unlike the Phoenix Protocol, the Ursa Furiosa wasn’t quite so lucky following the nerf. The super regeneration took a pretty big hit, making it way less useful than it was previously. While the perk roll on this gear is pretty good, this is an exotic item that can safely be passed on at this point until its eventual buff down the road.
Random Gear Rolls:
Restorative OR Resilience Fusion Rifle Loader, Sidearm Loader, Enhanced Impact Induction Shotgun Scavenger OR Heavy Ammo Finder
Exotic Weapon
Last seen two months ago, The Jade Rabbit exotic scout rifle is back as Xur’s weapon of the week. It’s a high skill weapon which will benefit those who are able to accurately hit their shots. The Fate of All Fools is the weapon’s intrinsic perk, giving bonus damage to players that can land a precision shot after chaining multiple body shots on an enemy. This also returns ammo to the magazine as well.
The same issue remains with this weapon as it has the last time it was features. The biggest issue is that it’s a scout rifle, a weapon type that has remained notoriously underpowered for quite some time. With the weapon class in dire need of tweaking combined with The Jade Rabbit’s slow rate of fire, players who are not accurate are likely going to struggle in the Crucible against the pulse rifles, shotguns, and hand cannons that typically dominate. For those willing to take the time to learn how to use it, The Jade Rabbit can be a solid weapon at any range, with players even reporting that the weapon can 2-3 tap other players.
The perks for this weapon this weekend are:
