In the meantime, fans have been continuing to progress through Season of Arrivals, even going as far as utilizing a bug that made going AFK in Forges extremely easy to earn Umbral Engrams. While Bungie moved quickly to patch this exploit out as it enabled players to level up faster than normal, the studio continues to wrestle with a number of issues including on nasty bug that has seemingly locks players out of the Lighthouse even when on a Flawless run in Trials of Osiris.

Alongside the weekend, Destiny 2 exotic merchant Xur has also once again arrived into the game world with new gear for players to purchase. Follow this guide for his location as well as a review of what he’s currently selling for the weekend of June 19, 2020.

Where is Xur?

For this weekend, players will want to head to Io, which should be useful considering that the new Contact public event is still locked to this location.

Once loaded in, immediately head through the building into the area with the large drill in the center. Head left through the gate and follow the edges of the zone to the top left corner of the map where Xur is hiding in a cave.

Class Armor

Once again, players can look forward to fresh exotic gear from Xur thanks to a recent patch which made his gear randomized and no longer simply collection rolled gear. The armor he now has features randomized stats and perks, which should revitalize player interest in what Xur has each week. In addition, players can use an Exotic Cypher to purchase a second fated engram from the merchant.

Here are Xur’s three gear pieces this weekend:

Starfire Protocol - Warlock chest armor

For better or worse, the Starfire Protocol is focused entirely around fusion grenades. Fusion Harness provides players with 1 extra fusion grenade charge and they also recharge faster when the player makes a kill with an empowered weapon. Fusion grenade kills also recharge the rift ability faster.

While the perks may not sound very exciting, players have found some interesting uses for the armor, especially when it is paired with the Attunement of Grace tree. This support build allows players to use an empowering rift basically letting them have two healing grenades. Plus, the added damage not only recharges the rift but kills made from an empowered weapon also recharge the grenade faster as well. It’s not a must have item this week, but it does have its uses.

Void Enhanced. Stat Values:

Mobility +8 Resilience +7 Recovery +18 Discipline +15 Intellect +9 Strength +7

The Dragon’s Shadow - Hunter chest armor

Hunter’s can pick up this sub-class neutral exotic this week. The Dragon’s Shadow is directly tied to the Hunter’s dodge mechanic, as its intrinsic perk, Wraithmetal Mail, reloads all weapons and increases movement and weapon handling for a brief time after performing a dodge.

This is a pretty good roll for a useful exotic. While it may not replace some of the better options out there, The Dragon’s Shadow has some value thanks to the fact that it basically gives players Marksman’s Dodge for free. This essentially lets the user equip the Gambler’s Dodge class ability and gain free weapon reloads and faster melee recharges at the same time.

Void Enhanced. Stat Values:

Mobility +10 Resilience +12 Recovery +12 Discipline +9 Intellect +14 Strength +6

Mk. 44 Stand Asides - Titan leg armor

Originally introduced inside of Curse of Osiris, the Mk. 44 Stand Asides are for Titans who like to run. Seriously, Watch Out is the armor perk on this exotic gear and with it, players get an overshield while sprinting with Seismic Strike, Hammer Strike, or Shield Bash equipped. In addition, hits with these abilities recharge a portion of the player’s melee energy.

The value of these boots are based entirely on play style. They’re certainly not the best option out there, but could certainly be useful under the right circumstances. However, they may be worth another look considering they were buffed in the recent sandbox patch Bungie released alongside Season of the Worthy.

Void Enhanced. Stat Values:

Mobility +9 Resilience +14 Recovery +9 Discipline +9 Intellect +20 Strength +2

Exotic Weapon

Styled after the Destiny 1 exotic Red Death, the Crimson hand cannon is unique compared to other weapons in this class. The reason is due to its intrinsic perk known as Banned Weapon as it gives the gun a three round burst. It’s unique perk, Cruel Remedy, heals the player after killing an enemy while a precision kill refills the magazine.

Hand cannons remain a very strong weapon type in Destiny 2 and as such, Crimson does as well. The healing effect along makes this gun worth it, especially in modes with lots of enemies to help trigger the effect. The weapon only gets better with the catalyst so for those who do not yet have this, pick it up.

Additional perks:

Smallbore Accurized Rounds Heavy Grip
