Outside of the narrative component, players were also greeted with a couple of new quests as well. The first centers on the newest exotic trace rifle called Ruinous Effigy, another weapon which has seemingly been a big hit with players thanks to its unique ability to generate void orbs after defeating an enemy. The first phase of the Exodus mission also kicked off this past week, taking players to each of the infected locations to assist the NPC vendors there.

Even with a lot of things happening in Destiny 2 at the moment, one constant in this ever evolving world is the exotic merchant Xur who has once again arrived. Follow this guide for his location as well as a review of what he’s currently selling for the weekend of July 10, 2020.

Where is Xur?

This weekend, players should take a trip to Nessus and board the floating Golden Barge of Calus.

From the Director, head to Nessus and load into Watcher’s Grave. Once loaded in, run forward until the zone opens up. The Golden Barge is floating nearby with Xur hanging out towards the back of the ship near the treasure chests.

Class Armor

As he’s been doing for the past few weeks, Xur is no longer selling collection rolled gear. The armor he now has features randomized stats and perks, which should revitalize player interest in what the merchant has each week. In addition, players can use an Exotic Cypher to purchase a second fated engram from the merchant.

Here are Xur’s three gear pieces this weekend:

Claws of Ahamkara - Warlock gauntlets

The Claws of Ahamkara is melee focused exotic armor and hasn’t been up for sale in quite a while. Its intrinsic perk is called The Whispers, and it grants one extra melee charge that players can utilize.

It may not be the best or most exciting exotic gear out there, but it’s pretty useful. While it ultimately may not replace the top tier options available for Warlocks, having an extra melee charge is never a bad thing for most game modes especially in the Crucible. It’s worth a purchase this week for those who don’t have it.

Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:

Mobility +7 Resilience +8 Recovery +17 Discipline +9 Intellect +6 Strength +15

Mechaneer’s Tricksleeves - Hunter gauntlets

It’s been almost half a year, but the Mechaneer’s Tricksleeves are back in stock for Hunters. They’re geared specifically for sidearm users, so for those running the recently reprised Fool’s Remedy or the Devil’s Ruin exotic, then these may be worth a look. Its exotic perk is called Spring-Loaded Mounting which boosts Sidearms efficiency especially when the user is wounded.

Ultimately, it’s hard to call this exotic a must have considering that Sidearms are still not really at the top of the meta and there are much better Hunter exotics out there. Not only that, the bonus from this item only activates when the player is in the danger red portion of their health and disables when it recharges back into the white. Needless to say, there are better options for hunters out there, meaning players can safely skip this.

Solar Enhanced. Stat Values:

Mobility +10 Resilience +13 Recovery +9 Discipline +22 Intellect +2 Strength +7

Dunemarchers - Titan leg armor

The Dunemarchers are available once again for Titan players this weekend. Linear Actuators increase the player’s sprint speed and also builds up a static charge. When using a melee attack on an opponent, the charge is released and chains damage to all nearby enemies.

Ultimately, these are a fun exotic to mess around with though their actual utility may vary from person to person. Still, they’re worth picking up for those who don’t have them as they can cause some pretty big damage when paired with certain Titan subclasses like bottom tree Striker or middle tree Sunbreaker. One other thing to consider is that even though these may be better than a collection roll, the random stats this week still aren’t great.

Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:

Mobility +11 Resilience +19 Recovery +2 Discipline +6 Intellect +9 Strength +14

Exotic Weapon

A few weeks later, Xur has brought back the Black Talon heavy sword. With fan favorite swords like the Falling Guillotine getting heavy use, swords are actually in a very good place at the moment. Black Talon is no exception and is absolutely worth the shards this week for those who don’t yet have it. Part of the reason is that unlike other swords, the Black Talon can fire projectiles as well as cut down enemies. This heavy sword features the Crow’s Wing perk which lets the user swing to fire off a cross combo projectile. Its secondary perk, Tireless Blade, gives ammo for every other powered sword kill.

This projectile gives the Black Talon an advantage over other swords as it lets the player stay at a distance instead of getting up close and personal to get a kill. Titan players looking for a leg up over Warlocks and Hunters should use the Stronghold exotic which pairs extremely well and turns players basically into an infinite sword fighter.

Additional perks:

Tempered Edge Heavy Guard
