While fans are enjoying being able to shape the Revision Zero how they want, the weapon has had a notable negative effect on Destiny 2 as a whole, acquiring the nickname Telesto Clone. After it was added to the game, a bug in the weapon’s code caused havoc with the Destiny 2 API, forcing Bungie to even shut down the service which had massive impacts to third party apps like the highly popular Destiny Inventory Manager app.

As expected, the weekend merchant Xur has finally arrived in Destiny 2 for the first time in 2023. Follow this guide for his most current weekend location, news on his exotic cipher quest, as well as a review of all the exotic and legendary gear he’s brought for the weekend of January 6, 2023.

Where is Xur?

This weekend, players can find Xur on Nessus, hanging out on his usual massive tree branch.

From the Director, head to Nessus and load into Watcher’s Grave. Run towards the back of the zone where a massive tree is found. Jump up until players find the huge branch where the merchant is hanging out.

Class Armor and Exotic Cipher

Xur’s role continues to offer the usual weekly quests, exotics, and legendary gear. Not only are these quests required to purchase a second fated engram, but they’re necessary to acquire legacy exotic gear from the Tower kiosk. Players can earn a new cipher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clan mates or finishing more challenging activities.

Xur continues to sell even more gear outside his usual content. In addition to his normal exotic gear, Xur now has Legendary Weapons and Armor for sale in exchange for Legendary Shards and Glimmer.

Exotic Armor

Eye of Another World - Warlock helmet

The Cerebral Uplink perk which highlights priority targets while also improving the regeneration speed of the grenade, melee, and Rift abilities.

When using mods that target regeneration rates, this exotic can help players get their abilities much faster than normal. It’s not a must-have item, but it can be a decent choice for PvE or PvP.. It’s worth noting that this item doesn’t actually provide wall hacks like the Nightstalker Hunter gets, only visible enemy targets are highlighted in red. Also hurting this item is the stat roll which comes in at a paltry 58 total.

Void Enhanced. Stat Values:

Mobility +6 Resilience +6 Recovery +19 Discipline +2 Intellect +12 Strength +13

The Dragon’s Shadow - Hunter chest armor

The rarely seen Hunter chest armor is back on sale this week. As a subclass neutral exotic, The Dragon’s Shadow is directly tied to the Hunter’s dodge mechanic, as its intrinsic perk, Wraithmetal Mail, reloads all weapons and increases movement and weapon handling for a brief time after performing a dodge.

While it may not replace some of the better options out there, The Dragon’s Shadow has some value thanks to the fact that it basically gives players Marksman’s Dodge for free. This essentially lets the user equip the Gambler’s Dodge class ability and gain free weapon reloads and faster melee recharges at the same time. The roll is the best of the trio this week as well, coming in at 62 overall with high marks to mobility, discipline, recovery, and strength.

Void Enhanced. Stat Values:

Mobility +15 Resilience +4 Recovery +12 Discipline +13 Intellect +6 Strength +12

Ursa Furiosa - Titan gauntlets

At one point, these were the go-to exotic for Sentinel Titans, though these haven’t been quite the same since their adjustment. Ultimately, these were heavily impactedd by Bungie’s decision to nerf super generating exotics that arrived alongside Season of the Lost.

Regardless, Ursine Guard is the intrinsic perk which enables the player to move faster when guarding with Sentinel Shield. However, the best part of this perk is that blocked damage will convert into additional super energy once the super ends, similar to other class exotics like the Shards of Galanor for Hunters. As previously mentioned, the returned energy has a cap now, so it’s not nearly as useful as it was previously. The stat roll is solid, if unspectacular this week, so this isn’t a required purchase this week.

Void Enhanced. Stat Values:

Mobility +10 Resilience +13 Recovery +9 Discipline +12 Intellect +10 Strength +6

Exotic Weapon

Originally introduced inside of the Forsaken expansion, Bungie went ahead and made this item a pre-order bonus for those who pre-ordered Shadowkeep before it launched. The Two-Tailed fox is a rocket launcher that fires two elemental rockets, one void and one solar that can also track the same target. The void rocket also suppresses the target while the solar one does damage over time.

While this is a fun weapon to use, this particular exotic is outclassed by other weapons including its rocket launcher sibling, the Gjallarhorn. As such, it isn’t a required purchase this week.

Additional perks:

Confined Launch High Velocity Rounds Composite Stock

Hawkmoon and Dead Man’s Tale Rolls

Since Season 16 removed the Presage and Harbinger exotic missions, Xur is also selling both Hawkmoon and Dead Man’s Tale with randomized rolls. Players should visit him each weekend as he’ll be carrying different rolls.

Hawkmoon Rolls:

Arrowhead Brake Alloy Magazine Surplus Polymer Grip

Dead Man’s Tale

Hammer-Forged Rifling Ricochet Rounds Moving Target Fitted Stock
