The latest glitch followed on the heels of other problems that have cropped up during this season including deleted characters, server instability, and other technical hiccups. While many fans are concerned for the game’s immediate future, Bungie has been quick to respond to these problems, including issuing a Destiny 2 hotfix and explaining what happened in this week’s blog post. Still, with Lightfall on the horizon, many are hoping more problems are not on the horizon.

In the meantime, the weekend merchant Xur has finally arrived back inside of Destiny 2 for another weekend visit. Follow this guide for his most current weekend location, news on his exotic cipher quest, as well as a review of all the exotic and legendary gear he’s brought for the weekend of January 27, 2023.

Where is Xur?

This weekend, players can find Xur in the Tower Hangar.

As usual, fast travel to the main Tower location and head left into the Hangar. Once there, take another left and move past the Dead Orbit section to find a metal staircase. Move up the stairs to find Xur on a platform overlooking the mountain range off in the distance.

Class Armor and Exotic Cipher

Xur’s role continues to offer the usual weekly quests, exotics, and legendary gear. Not only are these quests required to purchase a second fated engram, but they’re necessary to acquire legacy exotic gear from the Tower kiosk. Players can earn a new cipher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clan mates or finishing more challenging activities.

Xur continues to sell even more gear outside his usual content. In addition to his normal exotic gear, Xur now has Legendary Weapons and Armor for sale in exchange for Legendary Shards and Glimmer.

Exotic Armor

Apotheosis Veil - Warlock helmet

The Apotheosis Veil remains an alright support exotic that isn’t dependent on subclass. It comes with the exotic perk Insatiable, which immediately regenerates the player’s health, melee, grenade, and rift energy when activating their super. Nearby allies also recharge class abilities faster as well.

It’s likely not great in all situations, but it could come in handy when playing difficult activities or even in competitive PvP modes. It may not replace the standard go to exotics for Warlocks, but could be worth a look for some players. With the highest stat roll this week, everything is distributed fairly well, with nothing too high or too low. Recovery is the highest, which is always a great stat to have, so this may be worth a look.

Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:

Mobility +6 Resilience +7 Recovery +18 Discipline +10 Intellect +10 Strength +12

Sealed Ahamkara Grasps - Hunter gauntlet

The Sealed Ahamkara Grasps features the trait known as Nightmare Fuel which reloads the player’s currently equipped weapon after melee damage.

For Hunters using Way of a Thousand Cuts, they can ensure that they always have ammo ready. Throwing the burning knives causes significant melee damage and each burn tick of damage will reload the equipped gun. Killing the burning enemy procs the Playing with Fire perk, which essentially recharges the melee attack giving the player a nearly unlimited supply of reloads as long as they hit and kill the target. While having the lowest stats total for this week at 61 and a paltry 3 for mobility, it may not be replacing any current and meta Hunter exotics anytime soon.

Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:

Mobility +3 Resilience +18 Recovery +10 Discipline +8 Intellect +6 Strength +16

ACD/0 Feedback Fence - Titan gauntlets

Similar to the SUROS Regime below, the ACD/0 Feedback Fence is back again. The intrinsic perk called Fury Conductors build energy when getting melee kills. Being hit by a melee attack not only reduces incoming damage and unleashes the currently stored energy in an explosion.

It may not be the best available Titan exotic, it certainly has its moments in specific activities like the Crucible. Getting punched and causing small explosions is a powerful, fun, and destructive ability to have. However, this is the second week that Xur has seemingly brought Titan armor that has high mobility, which isn’t ideal. Again, the stats are at a solid 62 overall, though with the distribution still a bit odd, it’s not a must-buy.

Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:

Mobility +19 Resilience +10 Recovery +2 Discipline +16 Intellect +2 Strength +13

Exotic Weapon

And just a few weeks later, the SUROS Regime auto rifle is back in stock. Not much has changed at all, but its perk is SUROS Legacy, which gives half of the current ammo magazine bonus damage as well as giving a chance to regenerate health after a kill. However, the gun features a second perk that lets players pick what kind of weapon they want to use. Spinning Up increases the rate of fire when the trigger is held down. On the other hand, Dual Speed Receiver slows down the rate of fire and increases the damage when the player aims down the sights.

Overall, the SUROS is a solid and reliable auto rifle, but probably not a weapon at the top of most people’s lists at the moment.

Additional perks:

Hammer-forged Rifling Tactical Mag Hand-Laid Stock

Hawkmoon and Dead Man’s Tale Rolls

Since Season 16 removed the Presage and Harbinger exotic missions, Xur is also selling both Hawkmoon and Dead Man’s Tale with randomized rolls. Players should visit him each weekend as he’ll be carrying different rolls.
