In addition to acquisitions, fans also got plenty of new details on The Witch Queen. This week focused on the upcoming Crafting feature, how it works, and what Destiny 2 players will need when they visit The Relic on Mars. Foundry weapons are also making a return and the studio is also buffing a ton of gear, both Legendary and Exotic, to help make them more viable in all phases of the game.

While there’s plenty of exciting news on the horizon, Destiny 2 players can stop by and visit the exotic merchant Xur, for their weekend dose of new gear. As always, follow this guide for his most current weekend location, news on his exotic cipher quest, as well as a review of all the exotic gear he’s brought for the weekend of February 4, 2022.

Where is Xur?

This weekend, players can track Xur back inside of the European Dead Zone in his usual spot overlooking the Winding Cove.

Fast travel to the Winding Cove zone and immediately head towards the back where the Fallen typically patrol. Climb the cliffs back here to find Xur standing on a ledge not too far from a crashed ship.

Class Armor and Exotic Cipher

In Season of the Lost, Xur’s role has expanded as the exotic merchant has weekly quests, exotics, and legendary gear. Not only are these quests required to purchase a second fated engram, but they’re necessary to acquire legacy exotic gear from the Tower kiosk. Players can earn a new cipher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clanmates or finishing more challenging activities.

With Season 15, Xur is now selling even more gear outside his usual content. In addition to his normal exotic gear, Xur now has Legendary Weapons and Armor for sale in exchange for Legendary Shards and Glimmer. Better yet, the stat rolls are pretty solid on the Black Armor gear for this week.

Exotic Armor

Phoenix Protocol - Warlock chest armor

Just on sale a couple weeks ago, the Phoenix Protocol is back in stock for those who may have missed it. Battle-Hearth gives Dawnblade Warlocks a return on super energy for any kills or assists they make while standing inside of the Well of Radiance.

Again, the roll this weekend is extremely high and potentially worth a look. With a 66 total overall, stat distribution is fairly even, with highs in Intellect and Mobility. Strength and Discipline are on the lower end though, but overall it’s a solid item to nab this week.

Solar Enhanced. Stat Values:

Mobility +14 Resilience +10 Recovery +10 Discipline +8 Intellect +22 Strength +2

Aeon Swift - Hunter gauntlets

While these would normally be an easy pass, the Aeon Cult set of exotics deserve another look. Bungie has essentially reworked the Aeon set of exotics, making them more valuable and giving each one more of a role-based mechanic. While they’re still not top tier gear, they’re infinitely more useful than they were, even being valuable on difficult activities like Nightfalls.

Instead of a unique perk, this armor now has specific Aeon mods that can be equipped. Sect of Force is for damage dealers, temporarily increasing player reload speed and weapon swap speed after rapid precision hits. Taking down a champion or boss also gives nearby fireteam members a burst of grenade and melee energy. Sect of Vigor gives the player class energy when teammates die, then gaining full class energy after reviving. When nearby players cast their super, allies gain a burst of healing. Finally, Sect of Insight has a chance to drop an orb of power after precision weapon takedowns. When using a finisher on an elite enemy, special ammo is dropped. Using a finisher on a boss or miniboss, heavy ammo drops instead.

Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:

Mobility +3 Resilience +21 Recovery +8 Discipline +2 Intellect +21 Strength +10

Aeon Safe - Titan gauntlets

Same deal with the Aeon Swift exotics above. Following the rework, these gauntlets may be worth looking into. The roll this week is the worst of the bunch, but a 63 still beats a collection roll so it may be an upgrade for some.

Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:

Mobility +14 Resilience +4 Recovery +16 Discipline +13 Intellect +10 Strength +6

Exotic Weapon

Back again in nearly a month is Telesto. This weapon has had a very interesting history with the game, responsible for breaking many parts of the game in the favor of players. This includes, but isn’t limited to helping players cheese the Blind Well event, proc certain buffs and benefits for other players, giving free special ammo in large quantities, and much more. Because of these glitches, the gun has become very player friendly and likely a massive headache for Bungie.

The weapon’s intrinsic perk is called Unplanned Reprieve which causes fusion projectiles to attach and detonate with a delayed void blast. It’s also paired with the Harbinger’s Pulse perk which instantly reloads equipped primary and energy weapons after multi-kills with the Telesto. Naturally, it’s a great PvE weapon as its sticky explosives cover a wide area and can clear adds very fast. It’s a solid PvP weapon as well, though it really shines once the Masterwork catalyst has been applied to increase the ammo reserves.

Additional perks:

Projection Fuse Polymer Grip
