In addition to the mysterious Guardian Games event later this month, which seems to feature some very interesting class-based rewards, dataminers may have also stumbled upon a few other bits of data that Bungie has been working to keep under wraps. Later this season could possible reintroduce a major component not seen since the Rise of Iron campaign in Destiny 1 along with the return of a formidable exotic weapon that ties into this season’s themes.

Until then, Xur has once again infiltrated the world of Destiny 2, bringing with him four pieces of exotic gear for players to check out over the next few days. Follow this guide for his location as well as a review of what he’s currently selling for the weekend of April 3, 2020.

Where is Xur?

This weekend, players can catch up to the exotic salesman on Io in his usual cave dwelling.

Fast travel to Giant’s Scar and immediately head through the building into the area with the large drill in the center. Head left through the gate and follow the edges of the zone to the top left corner of the map where Xur is hiding in a cave.

Class Armor

Keep in mind that the Armor 2.0 update has caused Xur’s items each week to mirror the rolls players get from pulling these items from their own Collections. As it stands, players should likely hold on to their shards if they already own the following items. Players can use the Fated Engram to pull something a little different if nothing in his inventory is appealing this week, including newer exotic items.

Here are Xur’s three gear pieces this weekend:

Contraverse Hold - Warlock gauntlets

A very strong PvP exotic that recently received its own nerf. Contraverse Hold pairs really well with a Voidwalker’s grenade abilities. Chaos Exchanger is the unique perk and it provides damage resistance while charging a void grenade with Chaos Accelerant, Feed the Void, or Handheld Supernova. In addition, after using throwing it and landing a hit, a portion of grenade energy is returned.

There are another popular exotic that was adjusted inside of the most recent seasonal update. While they’re still functionally the same as they were, players now have reduced damage protection while holding the supernova and how long it can be held for. Still, this is a solid exotic item and is a recommended purchase for those who don’t yet have it.

Void Enhanced. Stat Values:

Mobility +6 Resilience +6 Recovery +12 Discipline +12 Intellect +6 Strength +6

Orpheus Rig - Hunter boots

At one point, these were an automatic pick for Nightstalker Hunters. Uncanny Arrows enhances the Shadowshot super ability by giving players ability energy for each enemy tethered by Deadfall anchors. For those using Moebius Quiver, they can take more shots than usual.

However, these exotic boots have been heavily nerfed with the Season of the Worthy update. Considering how strong they were, Bungie limited the item’s potential for super gain, placing a limit on the amount of super that can be gained after using Shadowshot to a maximum of 50%. They’re still useful but they just don’t have the punch that they once did.

Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:

Mobility +12 Resilience +6 Recovery +6 Discipline +6 Intellect +12 Strength +6

Stronghold - Titan gauntlets

A perfect exotic for Titan’s who enjoy using the recently buffed Swords inside of Destiny 2. Its intrinsic perk is called Clenched Fist which relates directly to swords. When guarding, the player’s move speed is increased and ammo isn’t drained. In addition, any shots that are blocked heals the player immediately after guarding.

Unlike the previous two items, Stronghold received some buffs this season, which make it really viable in many activities. Stronghold maximizes sword defense stats and doesn’t lose any guard energy while subsequently healing the wielder when blocking shots. Sword users should definitely take a look at these exotics.

Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:

Mobility +6 Resilience +14 Recovery +6 Discipline +12 Intellect +6 Strength +12

Exotic Weapon

This is likely going to make a lot of players very unhappy because Hard Light is currently very much the meta in Crucible right now. Players have already complained about its overusage in things like Trials and now Xur has it in stock this week for everyone. It’s a fast-firing weapon that comes with the Volatile Light perk. Essentially, this makes fired rounds ricochet off walls, over-penetrate targets, and have zero damage fall off before they hit their target. Not only that, projectile damage increases after each bounce off a wall or object.

Auto Rifles on the whole have been buffed so this is a worthy purchase anyway, but considering this is the defacto choice right now for many players makes it a must have. It’s also extremely versatile considering it can switch elements, making it a great pick for nearly any activity in Destiny 2.

Additional perks:

Polygonal Rifling Alloy Magazine Composite Stock

Here’s the complete rundown of Xur’s entire stock in Destiny 2 for April 3, 2020:

Contraverse Hold (Warlock gauntlets) – 23 Legendary Shards Orpheus Rig (Hunter boots) – 23 Legendary Shards Stronghold (Titan gauntlets) – 23 Legendary Shards Hard Light (Auto Rifle) - 29 Legendary Shards Fated Engram - 97 Legendary Shards Five of Swords Challenge Card
