In addition, this week’s blog post also outlined the annual Guardian Games event, a Destiny 2 version of the Olympic Games. For 2022, Bungie has made a number of tweaks to the event through three new playlists called Recreational, Training, and Competitive. Essentially, this is Bungie’s way of bringing back the fan favorite strike scoring system from the original Destiny, perhaps as a precursor to bringing it back in full.

Until then, the weekend merchant Xur has arrived in Destiny 2 with a refreshed inventory of exotic and legendary gear. Follow this guide for his most current weekend location, news on his exotic cipher quest, as well as a review of all the exotic and legendary gear he’s brought for the weekend of April 29, 2022.

Where is Xur?

This weekend, players can find Xur on Nessus, hanging out on his usual massive tree branch.

From the Director, head to Nessus and load into Watcher’s Grave. Run towards the back of the zone where a massive tree is found. Jump up until players find the huge branch where the merchant is hanging out.

Class Armor and Exotic Cipher

Xur’s role continues to offer the usual weekly quests, exotics, and legendary gear. Not only are these quests required to purchase a second fated engram, but they’re necessary to acquire legacy exotic gear from the Tower kiosk. Players can earn a new cipher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clanmates or finishing more challenging activities.

Xur continues to sell even more gear outside his usual content. In addition to his normal exotic gear, Xur now has Legendary Weapons and Armor for sale in exchange for Legendary Shards and Glimmer.

Exotic Armor

Nezarec’s SIn - Warlock helmet

The Voidwalker specific helm Nezarec’s Sin is once again available from the exotic merchant. Its intrinsic perk is known as Abyssal Extractors, a void specific ability that should make Voidwalker Warlocks very happy. Essentially, any void damage kills increase ability energy recharge rate. It remains a solid pickup for Warlocks.

For those curious, this item pairs well not only with Voidwalkers, but many strong void-centric weapons currently in the game, especially now that the Void subclass has been reworked with the 3.0 update. The roll this week is extremely high and is recommended for purchase, even if Intellect is disappointingly low.

Void Enhanced. Stat Values:

Mobility +7 Resilience +13 Recovery +15 Discipline +26 Intellect +2 Strength +6

Gemini Jester - Hunter leg armor

Hunters can pick up the unique Gemini Jester leg armor this week. The intrinsic perk Misdirection causes nearby enemies to become disoriented and temporarily removes their radar after the Hunter dodges near them.

Similar to the other exotics, this isn’t a top tier exotic, though they can be fun to use in PvP against other players. The range of its Misdirection effect is larger than many think and could very easily mess other players up who are not ready for it or perhaps on the other side of a wall even. Keep in mind that this perk can also be a liability as it will trigger the Titan’s One-Eyed Mask perk Vengeance. The stat roll is the lowest of the three items and considering they’re not exactly in the meta this season, players can pass on these.

Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:

Mobility +12 Resilience +18 Recovery +2 Discipline +22 Intellect +6 Strength +2

Mk. 44 Stand Asides - Titan leg armor

Watch Out is the armor perk on this exotic gear and with it, players get an overshield while sprinting with Seismic Strike, Hammer Strike, or Shield Bash equipped. In addition, hits with these abilities recharge a portion of the player’s melee energy.

The value of these boots are based entirely on play style. They’re certainly not the best option out there, but could certainly be useful under the right circumstances. The roll this week is really high, so while it’s not the best Titan exotic, it’s likely better than the version that most players have currently.

Void Enhanced. Stat Values:

Mobility +27 Resilience +3 Recovery +6 Discipline +7 Intellect +16 Strength +9

Exotic Weapon

Back in stock after a few months off, players can grab the Hard Light auto rifle. At one point in time, Hard Light was largely regarded as the strongest weapon in Destiny 2, including competitive events like the Crucible. It was favored by most players for its rapid fire, high damage, and near zero recoil. As these things tend to go, the nerf hammer finally fell on Hard Light, reducing it’s effectiveness. These days, the weapon is largely outclassed by other auto rifles in the game, making it hard to recommend. The changing elemental damage is helpful at times, so the gun remains serviceable.

Hard Light basically shoots lasers thanks to its Intrinsic perk, Volatile Light. Rounds fired from the weapon have reduced damage falloff, over penetrate targets, and ricochet of hard surfaces. The more they ricochet, the more damage they inflict. It may not be the beast it once was, but it is still more than servicable and is a decent pick up this week.

Hawkmoon and Dead Man’s Tale Rolls

Hawkmoon Rolls:

Hammer-Forged Rifling Alloy Magazine Rangefinder Combat Grip
