For Ada-1, her primary role going forward will be centered around armor-focused items and upgrades. Her inventory will be updated daily and will contain a randomly chosen armor set from the world loot pool, armor upgrade materials, one randomly chosen armor mod for the general and armor-specific slot, and one combat style armor mod. Since Ada is stealing some of Banshee’s responsibilities, the Gunsmith no longer sells armor specific mods and instead focus more on weapons. Each week, Banshee-44 will sell a selection of six randomly chosen weapons from the World Loot Pool with randomized perk rolls.

With Banshee and Ada getting some love from Bungie, one vendor that is always completely random is the exotic gear merchant, Xur. Follow this guide for his most current weekend location, news on his exotic cypher quest, as well as a review of what he’s currently selling for the weekend of April 2, 2021 inside of Destiny 2.

Where is Xur?

This weekend, Xur is hanging out on the mighty branches of the tree on Nessus.

From the Director, head to Nessus and load into Watcher’s Grave. Run towards the back of the zone where a massive tree is found. Jump up until players find the huge branch where the merchant is hanging out.

Class Armor and Exotic Cypher

While Xur’s role is essentially the same as it was prior to the Beyond Light expansion, the exotic merchant also has weekly quests that players can acquire to unlock an exotic cypher. Not only are these required to purchase a second fated engram, but they’re necessary to acquire legacy exotic gear from the new kiosk. Players can earn a new cypher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clanmates or finishing more challenging activities.

Other than that, here are Xur’s three gear pieces this weekend:

Aeon Soul - Warlock gauntlets

At one point, these exotics would be a very easy thing to pass on. However, recent buffs and a rework by Bungie has completely transformed how these exotic gauntlets and the Aeon set items work for the better. While they’re still not top tier gear, they’re infinitely more useful than they were, even being valuable on difficult activities like Nightfalls.

Instead of a unique perk, this armor now has specific Aeon mods that can be equipped. Sect of Force is for damage dealers, temporarily increasing player reload speed and weapon swap speed after rapid precision hits. Taking down a champion or boss also gives nearby fireteam members a burst of grenade and melee energy. Sect of Vigor gives the player class energy when teammates die, then gaining full class energy after reviving. When nearby players cast their super, allies gain a burst of healing. Finally, Sect of Insight has a chance to drop an orb of power after precision weapon takedowns. When using a finisher on an elite enemy, special ammo is dropped. Using a finisher on a boss or miniboss, heavy ammo drops instead.

Orpheus Rig - Hunter leg armor

At one point, these Nightstalker-focused footwear was incredibly strong, forcing Bungie to nerf the items with the Season of the Worthy update. Considering how strong they were, Bungie limited the item’s potential for super gain, placing a limit on the amount of super that can be gained after using Shadowshot to a maximum of 50%.

While they’re no longer anywhere near the levels they were at before, the Orpheus Rig boots are still a great choice for tether Hunters. Uncanny Arrows enhances the Shadowshot super ability by giving players ability energy for each enemy tethered by Deadfall anchors. For those using Moebius Quiver, they can take more shots than usual. Overall, it’s still a decent pick for Hunters, even if the item doesn’t quite pack the same punch it once did.

Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:

Mobility +12 Resilience +12 Recovery +9 Discipline +8 Intellect +13 Strength +7

Lion Rampant - Titan leg armor

Titans who need a bit of mobility and stability when making tricky jumps will want these rocket boots.  Similar to the St0mp-EEZ for Hunters, Lion Rampant’s come with the perk Jump Jets which provides added maneuverability in the air and enables accurate hipfire while players are in the air during Lift. Basically, these boosts will help make Lift Titans jump for twice as long.

Naturally, these boots are great for more platforming based activities in Raids, Ascendant Challenges, and even the recent exotic quests for Dead Man’s Tale and Hawkmoon to name a few. Outside of that, a players mileage will vary as they don’t offer a significant boost to combat boost like other Titan exotics.

Exotic Weapon

It has been quite a while but for the next few days, Xur is selling the Arbalest, a kinetic linear fusion rifle that was introduced during the Revelry event in 2019. Made to look like a crossbow, the Arbalest has an intrinsic perk that essentially makes it fire like one as well. Compounding Force makes the weapon fire slugs that cause massive damage to enemies that are protected by an elemental shield. Paired with that is the Legendary trait Disruption Break which temporarily makes enemies more vulnerable to kinetic damage when an elemental shield is broken.

Because of those perks, the Arbalest shines under certain situations and can be devastating against other Guardians in PvP modes. It’s a great support weapon when going up against tougher activities making the Arbalest a solid all around weapon and is definitely worth the price this weekend.

Additional perks:

Extended Barrel Projection Fuse Composite Stock
