The Haunted Forest
Destiny 2 is big on its holiday events, including its spooky Halloween-like Festival of the Lost; it will be the last Festival of the Lost before Bungie drops all the changes coming with Beyond Light. The Festival of the Lost has been around since 2015, and this year seems like it has big celebrations and spooky surprises in store. One of these is a trip through the Haunted Forest, which is a spookier, darker, and more difficult version of the Infinite Forest. This is third year in a row that players will be able to infiltrate the Forest to earn cosmetics.

Unlocking the Forest
In order to get into the Forest, players will first have to have a chat with Festival of the Lost’s “Space Grandma” Eva Levante to kick off the year’s festivities. Just like the last couple of years, she will be the key to unlocking the Haunted Forest, but this year has an extra step. Players can find Eva in the middle of the Tower, where she usually camps out for this and other holiday events in Destiny 2.
Once players have a chat with Destiny 2’s Eva in the Tower, players will gain a Festival of the Lost helmet that Festival masks can be added to. These masks will allow players to collect candies and chocolate strange coins during Festival activities.
The Next Step
Eva will also tell players to go have a chat with Spider, who is located in Spider’s Safehouse on the Tangled Shore. Spider will then tell players to complete a strike, Crucible match, or Gambit match to earn a Cipher Decoder. Unfortunately for players, the low drop rates of the Cipher Decoders seem to be a bug that Bungie is still investigating. However, the drop rate is enough that most players should have one after two or three matches of one or more of the three that drop them.
Once players have gotten a Cipher Decoder, the Haunted Forest will appear in their directory, giving them access to the scary, Halloween-themed woods. But players should not get too caught up in the Haunted Forest if they are still looking to complete the Forerunner title before the end of Season of Arrivals; they only have a limited time to get those challenges completed.
Destiny 2 is available for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
