In a looter shooter where obtaining gear has been consistently tied to finding random rolls for mostly random weapons, where the degree of control players had only come from target-farming specific activities, weapon crafting changes everything.

This guide explains how to obtain enough weapon patterns to unlock Destiny 2’s new seasonal arsenal and, specifically, the Under Your Skin bow. Furthermore, it’s worth dissecting the weapon’s best perks to understand what Under Your Skin’s god roll is for Destiny 2’s main activities, with a focus on both PvE and PvP.

How to Unlock Season of the Risen’s Under Your Skin Bow

In order to unlock the ability to craft the Under Your Skin bow, Destiny 2 players need to first obtain three Deepsight Resonance weapons of the same name. This can be done by playing extensively the new PsiOp Battlegrounds, for which there is a new trick that allows Destiny 2 players to open the final chest twice, and eventually, unlock the Deepsight Requisition War Table Upgrade in the HELM.

This will allow players to have a guaranteed Deepsight Resonance weapon per week when focusing an Umbral Engram into Season of the Risen weapons. After attuning a total of three Deepsight Resonance Under Your Skin, players will unlock its pattern.

What is The God Roll For The Under Your Skin Bow

Because Under Your Skin is a precision frame bow with a base draw time of 684, players should try to lower that number as much as possible to have a functional roll for any activity in the game. As such, the most useful frame players can pick for this weapon’s Masterwork bonus is the Draw Time frame, which on its own reduces Under Your Skin’s draw speed down to 648.

While 648 is decent, players can decrease draw time even further with the bowstring option in Under Your Skin’s first column. For PvE activities at all levels, Destiny 2 players should always go for Elastic String in the first column, which decreases Under Your Skin’s draw time to 576 when combined with the Draw Time frame.

For a precision frame bow, this is a fantastic spot because the penalty to the weapon’s accuracy, although quite severe, is not too bad considering the stat is already quite high intrinsically.

For PvP, however, losing accuracy is not too beneficial, even on a precision frame bow like Under Your Skin. Thus, players looking to use this weapon in Trials of Osiris, Iron Banner, or regular Crucible playlists should instead craft Polymer String in the first column.

This, combined with the Draw Time frame, takes the bow to 612 draw speed while also taking accuracy from Elastic String’s 75 to 85 total.

As for the second column, Destiny 2 players have two options here for a god roll Under Your Skin. The first is Compact Arrow Shaft, which provides a bonus to both handling and reload speed. The main reason for this choice is that reload speed on bows increases the time players take to knock another arrow into the weapon, which is extremely important for bows not to feel sluggish. Because Under Your Skin’s base reload speed is not very high, picking Compact Arrow Shaft helps a lot.

Another option is to go the Straight Fletching route for increased accuracy, which would take Under Your Skin up to 82 if paired with Elastic String, and up to 92 if combined with Polymer String. Accuracy is particularly good for hipfiring bows, which can happen especially in chaotic PvE activities or PvP situations where players can’t pre-knock arrows before engaging in a fight.

Under Your Skin’s third column is more straightforward because the main choice for all game modes should be Archer’s Tempo, and that’s because it’s not too hard to proc, and it provides an incredible boost to draw time that further scales how fast the bow feels. This also pairs with the Draw Time frame and Elastic String or Polymer String, making Under Your Skin ever faster with headshots.

Although the benefit of Enhanced Archer’s Tempo is not great, players should still go for it to make the trait even more consistent, as it increases the buff duration by about one second. Again, this is not required, but it does help in all of Destiny 2’s content.

However, an expected option for the bow’s third column comes in the form of Unrelenting, which is quite good for PvE activities in the lower-to-mid-end spectrum.

In fact, players can easily run Nightfalls up to Master difficulty with Unrelenting slotted in Under Your Skin and be successful with it, especially with the Void 3.0 update. This perk is not recommended for high-end content like Grandmaster Nightfalls, though, where killing several adds in a row is not always very easy to do.

Lastly, for the fourth and final column, Under Your Skin has plenty of good options for all game modes in Destiny 2. One of the most notable perks players can craft on Season of the Risen’s bow is the new Successful Warm-Up trait, which increases draw time even further upon kills, which again stacks with all the previously mentioned buffs.

Many players are comparing this roll of Under Your Skin to Hush, which is only 6% faster to shoot when players combine all the best possible draw time rolls on Under Your Skin.

Successful Warm-Up is a superb perk on bows and fusion rifles, but the requirement of a kill makes it not ideal in activities like Grandmaster Nightfalls, some Raid encounters, and some PvP scenarios.

Luckily, there are other options. For Grandmaster Nightfalls, particularly, a great new trait to go for is Adaptive Munitions, which allows players to deal more damage to non-matching elemental shields.

This is great because of how Match Game limits Destiny 2 players’ choices for loadouts, making Adaptive Munitions a fantastic addition for dealing with that. Enhanced Adaptive Munitions is also a good choice to craft because it further increases the damage players deal to non-matching shields with subsequent hits.

Explosive Head is another great pick in the fourth column for Under Your Skin, as it pairs exceptionally well with the Void 3.0 update and Volatile rounds, making the explosion happen twice per shot. This is also a great trait to have to deal with Barrier Champions because the split damage makes clearing the shield faster and more consistent, thanks to the slightly delayed explosion.

Explosive Head is also good in PvP because it overall increases the damage of the bow’s basic attack, and the fact that it splits into two different damage bits can chip the health of the enemy away faster.

Lastly, a great PvP perk to pair with high accuracy and possibly a Freehand Grip or Icarus Grip mod on Under Your Skin is Opening Shot. Similar to the curated roll Hush came with, Opening Shot is a very powerful PvP tool because it increases the accuracy and range of the first shot of a weapon’s magazine, and in the case of bows, it applies to every arrow fired.

Destiny 2 is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
