Vault of Glass was the first raid to launch with the original Destiny, and, as such, holds a special place in many players’ hearts. The addition of the raid comes as part of the game’s new approach to content management that sees Destiny 2 vaulting certain pieces of content while bringing previously vaulted parts back into rotation as well.

This will be the first time that Vault of Glass has been available in Destiny 2, and its implementation when it launches on May 22 will change how Destiny 2’s popular World First race will work. Firstly, Vault of Glass will launch with Contest Mode enabled for 24 hours that will cap the impact of players’ Power over a certain threshold. Vault of Glass will require players to be at 1300 power, so it will likely be around there.

For Vault of Glass’ world-first completion in Destiny 2, finishing the modified raid will only be the start. Upon completion, players will unlock a Tempo’s Edge Triumph as well as a new Vault of Glass Challenge Mode. The world first will then be awarded to players that complete the triumph in the challenge mode that will introduce new modifiers and victory conditions to every encounter of the raid. The first team to complete the triumph will receive a silver belt from Bungie to commemorate the event, but the triumph and challenge mode will disappear 24 hours after Vault of Glass releases, but the challenge mode will return later on in the season.

While the details of what has all changed in Vault of Glass for Destiny 2 will likely only be discovered when players are racing to claim the world-first belt, Bungie’s blog post does state that players can expect more information on other rewards players can expect in the near future. With the raid arriving May 22, players will not have too much time to get up to 1300 Power between Vault of Glass’ launch and the launch of Season 14 on May 11. With Season 14’s changes to Destiny 2’s weapons as well as the new transmog system and the return of Vault of Glass, it looks like the season will have a lot to offer Destiny 2 players.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
