The latest of these events is the Guardian Games, a competition between the game’s three classes running from April 21st to May 11th. During the event, players will compete to finally prove which of the classes is the best, and to keep score they must earn Medals and Laurels through special challenges.

Taking Gold

Players can begin helping their class in the Guardian Games by visiting Eva Levante at The Tower. She will offer a range of pseudo-bounties, mostly revolving around killing enemies in either the Crucible or Strike/Nightfall playlists. These Medals can then be turned in at each class’s statue in The Tower, where they will contribute to the class that earned it. There are three tiers of medal - Bronze, Silver, and Gold - each of which adds a different number of points to the Daily Score of a class.

The Daily Score is how Bungie is keeping track of how each class is doing. Totaled up at the end of each day, the score will show which of the classes has done the best that day. After the scores have been determined, the event-specific Class Items will take on a color to indicate the day’s standings, either bronze, silver, or gold.

Earning Laurels

In addition to the Medals, Guardians who want to take part in the Games will also need to collect Laurels. These are new items dropped from enemies who have been killed by grenades, charged melee attacks, or Super abilities. The big difference with Laurels is that they award different amounts of points depending on which class killed the enemy that dropped them.

If a Titan picks up a Laurel that has dropped as the result of the kill of another Titan, then it’s worth three points. However, if that same Titan picks up a Laurel that has been dropped by an enemy killed by a Hunter, it would only be worth one point. For those players who don’t care who wins the Guardian Games, there is still a good reason to farm Medals, even across multiple classes. This is because event-specific Exotics, such as the new Heir Apparent machine-gun, are locked behind completing Triumphs relating to the Medals.
