Reddit user Zorseking34 recently took to the forum to complain about Destiny 2’s Gambit mode. Zorseking34 pointed out how one team in Gambit could have a significant lead in motes and yet are still able to constantly invade the other team. This makes the mode “insufferable,” according to Zorseking34, and many in the comments agreed with their assessment. Zorseking34 asked Bungie to “please fix Gambit,” and community manager dmg04 actually responded.

“Yeah, this can be a pretty rough time! Team is looking at some improvements to make in the Witch Queen timeframe. We’ll be sure to pass this feedback along,” dmg04 said in his reply. While this is not a full-on committal that Destiny 2 Gambit changes are coming alongside the Witch Queen expansion, it should still be reassuring to those who are frustrated with the mode. It confirms that Bungie is aware that there are improvements to be made and that the developers are potentially “looking at” implementing some around the time Witch Queen rolls around.
The Destiny 2 Witch Queen expansion is still quite a ways away, so fans of the looter-shooter shouldn’t expect these Gambit improvements to come any time soon, if they do at all. As of the time of this writing, the Destiny 2 Witch Queen release date is set for February 25, and so it will likely be months before fans learn of Gambit improvements.
The argument could be made that people who don’t like playing Gambit should simply ignore it, but the mode is required for those who want to complete all of the Destiny 2 Season of the Lost seasonal challenges. There are multiple Destiny 2 seasonal challenges tied directly to Gambit, so anyone that wants to get the most out of their season pass will need to play the game mode quite a bit.
While Destiny 2’s Witch Queen expansion is still quite a ways away, Bungie has some things planned between now and then to keep players engaged. Most notably, the Destiny 2 30th Anniversary Pack content is set to launch in December, adding a new dungeon and bringing back the fan favorite Gjallarhorn Exotic rocket launcher.
