The main issue with the Dynamo perk seems to stem from Destiny 2’s new support for mod stacking. With the launch of Season of Dawn today, Bungie allowed players to put multiple versions of a mod into a single armor piece.

In the patch notes for the Season of Dawn update, Bungie explained that it was allowing players to stack mods on armor pieces to get greater benefits from those perks. However, the caveat is that Destiny 2 players should see diminishing returns on the perk’s effect. Dynamo, it seems, was not affected by this system.

Instead, there were tons of videos of Destiny 2 players using their class ability and getting full Super energy. Normally Dynamo is supposed to give a slight boost to Super energy anytime a player uses their class ability but not on this level. It’s clear that whatever systems Bungie put in place for the mod stacking are broken when it comes to Dynamo and so the developer has decided to disable the perk for the time being.

On its face, the Dynamo bug might not have appeared to be a major issue, but in certain use cases, it could be exploited. In Competitive PvP, for example, a player could sit in Super on the Overtime capture point and win every round with little issue. Infinite Supers would also render a lot of PvE activities insignificant, like the new Sundial added with Season of Dawn.

Players are also just beginning to learn how the solar subclasses have changed since the recent buffs. Several videos released by Bungie show that some solar subclasses have new abilities, and players don’t yet know if those are balanced just right or are overpowered. In essence, Infinite Supers could be very bad for the game right now and it is a good idea for Bungie to disable Dynamo.

Of course, there are plenty of other perks that players would like to see Bungie disable, either currently or in the past. But that seems to be the major point of content for Destiny as a whole.

Destiny 2: Season of Dawn is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
