Bungie has previously mentioned that new Destiny 2 seasonal events would be coming, including the return of a refreshed Faction Rally, but it appears that even more could be on the horizon including an event called Armsweek. This event was previously hinted at in an API update during the summer months, where players discovered new exotic catalysts for weapons like Hard Light, Rat King, and Prospector. Up to now, these catalysts have remained out of sight, but certain users like CDizzle have started seeing them appear within the Ishtar Collective companion app for Destiny 2 indicating that something could be on the horizon. With a big update, new content, and a new season set to kick off, Bungie could be preparing to finally make them available.
Part of the mystery of the API Update is that certain catalysts required specific missions to be accomplished during an event known as Armsweek. However, recent UI updates have changed a bit, ditching the term Armsweek for something a bit more mysterious. For example, YouTuber Mesa Sean detailed that the Hard Light catalyst required players to engage in challenging activities with Hard Light equipped during the celebration of deadly craftsmanship to unlock the upgrade. Even though Armsweek continues to be listed on Bungie.net, it’s not immediately clear of the celebration is tied to a seasonal event like The Dawning, as part of Armsweek, or perhaps something else entirely.
Another interesting note is that Black Armory may also be increasing the maximum power level beyond the current cap of 600. After detailing new pinnacle weapons like the Mountaintop grenade launched last week, Bungie posted a quick clip of the gun in action. When the guardian is finally put down in the clip, for a very brief moment, the killer’s player card is shown and the power level displayed is well above the current cap of 600.
Thankfully, fans likely won’t have to wait much longer for answers as players are now only a week away from the launch of Black Armory, the next content update for Destiny 2. While Bungie has been careful to keep expectations set by letting players know that this won’t be a big expansion like Forsaken, the details as to what is actually included for the free versus paid portions of the content are still a mystery. Due to the US Holiday Thanksgiving, the studio was off for a chunk of last week, likely delaying the Black Armory details that many are finally expecting to receive this week.
Destiny 2 Season 5 starts November 27th at reset for Pc, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
