Destiny 2 won’t just see a rotation of Eververse items or a reset of powerful and pinnacle reward sources. Next week, players can take on the Proving Grounds Nightfall, and the hardcore PVP crowd gets to tackle the Trials Labs, a variation of Trials of Osiris that experiments with the game-mode’s formula.

Destiny 2 will see the Proving Grounds Nightfall make its return for next week, a Nightfall that many players consider as the most challenging Nightfall on the Grandmaster difficulty. In addition, because this season is about to end in preparation for the Destiny 2 Witch Queen expansion, the Grandmaster Catchup node will be available. PVP players get to enjoy the Trials Labs mode where the rules are altered such as the addition of capture zones. Similar to how Nightfalls will receive a catchup mode, Bungie is enabling double reputation rewards for Trials of Osiris, making it an opportune time to get the game-mode’s rewards.

No one knows what the Flawless Trials weapon will be, but because Destiny 2’s famed Igneous Hammer and Sola’s Scar are going away next month, players should look to get these weapons before they’re gone. However, Proving Grounds will be dropping the Palindrome hand cannon and The Swarm machine gun. PVE players will want a Palindrome with the perks Subsistence/Overflow and Rampage/One-For-All, while PVP players will want a roll with Quickdraw/Killing Wind and Rangefinder. Coupled with Full-Bore, High-Caliber Rounds, and a Range masterwork, the Palindrome is a guardian-killing monster in the Crucible. The Swarm is best in PVE environments, so players will want a roll with Extended Mag, Bottomless Grief, and Vorpal Weapon for the maximum amount of high-damage bullets.

While Palindrome is dropping in next week’s Nightfall, Proving Grounds is very challenging even for the best players on the Grandmaster difficulty. However, Destiny 2 players have come up with good strategies to tackle this Nightfall to make things a little easier.

With Bungie taking the usual steps when the current season is closing, players who haven’t stocked up on materials or gear will want to do so before the launch of the Witch Queen expansion. While players know most of Destiny 2’s champion mods for next season, players are still unsure about what weapons they will want to use to take on Savathun next month. Now is the best time to starting gearing up and preparing for Destiny 2’s next expansion.

Destiny 2 is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
