While there are some clear Exotic winners in this category, namely Witherhoard and Arbalest (even after both received nerfs in season 19), Legendary weapons tend to be somewhat overlooked and there aren’t a huge number of great options compared to the Energy weapon slot’s Legendary weapon selection. Here’s which Kinetic weapons are still worth the grind in Destiny 2.

10 Succession

Succession is the sniper rifle players can find in the Deep Stone Crypt raid on Europa. Following the introduction of an Origin Trait to all Deep Stone Crypt weapons (and making them craftable), the interest in these weapons has risen once more. Succession has always been a good sniper rifle, and one of the more coveted weapons in the raid, but with Bray Inheritance Origin Trait that grants ability energy for dealing damage, it becomes even more powerful.

For perks, Succession has a mix of both PVE and PVP perks, with a preference for PVE. Reconstruction and Lead From Gold are decent picks in the first column. In the second column, there’s more leeway: Vorpal Weapon, Recombination, Snapshot Sights, and Firing Line are all good options.

9 Hung Jury SR4

Hung Jury SR4 is a scout rifle that left the Nightfall adept weapon rotation earlier in the year but has returned now in season 19. It’s one of the most solid scout rifles in the game, and well worth grinding for. Hung Jury SR 4 can shine in both PVE and PVP game modes, so no matter what the player’s specialty is, this scout delivers.

In the first column, players have Subsistence and Rapid Hit as solid picks, and the second column has timeless favorites like Explosive Payload, Firefly, and Adrenaline Junkie. Wellspring is also a decent choice for players who plan on using the scout solely in PVE content.

8 Submission

A Kinetic SMG found in the Vow of the Disciple raid, Submission is a craftable weapon that can be turned into the perfect tool of destruction. Wonderful in both PVE and PVP, it’s one of those solid raid weapons that can serve many purposes despite it having no elemental affinity.

Enhanced perks make this weapon all the more powerful, with the first column having Overflow, Subsistence, and Perpetual Motion. In the second column, great options like Frenzy, Demolitionist, and Swashbuckler make Submission a trustworthy companion for almost any type of activity.

7 Wastelander M5

Shotguns may not be in the best position in PVP right now, but when talking about Kinetic shotguns, Wastelander M5 is still a favorite for many players. Introduced in the 30th Anniversary update, it can be farmed by playing Dares of Eternity and opening Treasure Chests over at Xur’s Treasure Hoard. As of recent, it can also be crafted and comes with the Hot Swap Origin Trait.

Wastelander M5 is a lightweight frame shotgun, ideal for fast movement in PVP. For the first perk column, Slideshot, Perpetual Motion, and Air Assault are great options for Crucible. In the second column, Killing Wind or Opening Shot will seal the deal for a PVP godroll.

6 Whispering Slab

Bows are not particularly popular among players, but occasionally, depending on the seasonal anti-champion artifact mods, the community is forced to pull them out. One of the better Kinetic bows out there is the Whispering Slab, occasionally sold by Xur.

This bow is a lightweight frame, which helps with movement. Perk-wise, Archer’s Tempo and Vorpal are easily the best ones available, and the rest aren’t worth mentioning when it comes to endgame PVE.

5 Pardon Our Dust

Another Dares of Eternity weapon which can now be crafted and comes with the Hot Swap Origin Trait, Pardon Our Dust is a solid pick for any players who are still missing a Kinetic grenade launcher with the ability to spew out blinding grenades.

Make sure to craft one with blinding grenades, as well as Auto-Loading Holster for ease of use. In the last perk column, Vorpal Weapon, Demolitionist, and Adrenaline Junkie are some of the community favorites for PVE.

4 Austringer

Opulent weapons made a return in Destiny 2 in season 17 and became craftable with the To Excess Origin Trait. Austringer swiftly rose to one of the most popular weapons of the season, particularly among the PVP crowd, which considers it a hand cannon favorite. It topped the then-popular Eyasluna.

Austringer’s ideal PVP perk combination for many is Rangefinder and Eye of the Storm, but some players might prefer Outlaw or Opening Shot as replacement perks. Either way, for hand cannon enthusiasts, this craftable weapon is a must-have.

3 Piece Of Mind

All the way from season 16 comes Piece of Mind, a pulse rifle that has an interesting Origin Trait: Land Tank. This trait grants additional damage resistance to the player and stacks up to three times, which can turn it into a real menace in both PVE and PVP.

Better yet, Piece of Mine is a craftable pulse rifle, so getting the best roll is just a matter of collecting enough patterns and then grinding out until level 16. For the first column, Overflow and Perpetual Motion work well. In the second column, Adrenaline Junkie stands out as overall the best pick over some niche PVE and PVP perks.

2 Heritage

Back to the Deep Stone Crypt raid, there’s another Kinetic weapon worth trying to farm this season now that the Bray Inheritance Origin Trait is out and players can craft these weapons. Heritage is a wonderful shotgun for the Kinetic slot, a nice PVP alternative.

For Crucible, Slideshot is one of the perks for the first column. In the second column, Killing Wind is one of the best options, with Moving Target being a nice backup perk. Keep in mind that these will be Enhanced once the shotgun is crafted and leveled up, so their potency is increased, too.

1 Smite Of Merain

A returning weapon from the remastered King’s Fall raid, Smite of Merain is a pulse rifle with a whole host of solid perks. Many of the King’s Fall weapons come loaded with great perks, which is why identifying the absolute best combination is challenging, but also allows for a greater number of potential godrolls.

For the first column, Demolitionist is overall the most solid PVE perk. Swashbuckler and Adrenaline Junkie are the two overall great perks in the second column and will depend entirely on the player’s personal preference. King’s Fall weapons all come with the Runneth Over Origin Trait, which allows players to overflow the magazine when reloading nearby fireteam members, and these weapons can also be crafted into ideal rolls.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
